Quebec race car driver Alex Tagliani pays special visit to LMAC Career Centre and meets with auto-mechanic students and staff

The Laurier Macdonald Career Centre welcomed Quebec race car driver Alex Tagliani to their campus at 6065 Boulevard des Grand Prairies in St. Léonard on Thursday, April 17.
Tagliani is recognized for his impressive career in various racing categories, including IndyCar and NASCAR. He began his career in karting before making his auto racing debut in 1996 in the Formula Atlantic series. In 2000, he joined the Champ Car series where he quickly made a name for himself thanks to his exceptional performance and determination. He achieved several podium finishes and a memorable victory at the Road America race in 2004. In 2008, he made the transition to the IndyCar Series, competing in the famous Indianapolis 500 where he took the pole position in 2011 , becoming the first Canadian to achieve this feat. In NASCAR, he is best known for his performances in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, the Canadian national NASCAR series. He also raced in the NASCAR Xfinity and NASCAR Cup series, where he demonstrated his versatility and talent by adapting to different types of cars and tracks. In 2015, he was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame.
In 2001 Tagliani opened the $18 million TAG E-Karting and Amusement Center at Plaza St. Thérèse. The Centre features nine activities, including a combination of multi-level layout of three electric karting tracks, a laser tag game arena, six axe-throwing lanes, six bowling lanes, a Triotech 7D interactive cinema, a multi-sensory virtual reality experience, numerous modern arcades, and an interactive children’s floor—all under one roof. Most recently he decided to introduce high-end racing simulators. Offering an immersive and realistic experience, these simulators allow everyone—from casual fans to avid enthusiasts—to feel the authentic thrills of a racetrack while showcasing the expertise and forward-thinking vision of an exceptional driver.
Tagliani recently welcomed some of the Laurier Macdonald Career Centre auto-mechanics teachers for an exclusive behind the scenes look at the TAG E-Karting and Amusement Centre, including the garage where the electric karts are prepared. At that time they discussed a potential partnership involving auto-mechanics students applying for internships. For his visit he toured the state-of-the-art facility in St. Leonard, talked to students and answered their questions, observed them in their learning environment and met with administration. He also issued a challenge to the students.
“We feel so honored to have a true Quebec star on the international racing scene,” said LMAC Career Centre Principal Anna Maria Borsellino.
The visit came a few weeks before the Centre’s big open house, set for the same location on Wed.
